The Association supports the Government position on time changing

25th of July 2018, the Lithuanian Government approved its official position to offer Member-states do not introduce a summer time and to change time twice a year. Such Lithuanian response will be presented to a public consultation launched by the European Commission (EC) on the application of seasonal time in the Community.

At the same time, the Government decided to propose that permanent summertime be applied in Lithuania. The Lithuanian Shipowners’ Association supports the Government’s position regarding the proposal to abandon the changing time twice in a year. However, according to the Association, in order to avoid potential disturbances in transport and logistics, the decision on time rotation has to be taken at the European level, without allowing the Member States to make individual decisions on timing.
