Merchant fleet anniversary was commemorated in Jurbarkas municipality

This year marks the centenary of Lithuania as a maritime state. Implementing this wide and varied program of the anniversary, on the 19th of June 2021, the Lithuanian Maritime Museum organized an event in Jurbarkas. On 4 March 1921 the first Lithuanian seagoing ship, the motor sailing ship “Jūratė”, arrived in Klaipeda port. The seagoing vessel was registered in Jurbarkas since Klaipeda port at that time was ruled by the Andante coalition. Jurbarkas Municipality, Klaipeda University, teachers and students of Lithuanian Maritime Academy, Klaipeda Port Authority, Captains Association, and Shipowners’ Association were represented at the event.
