This innovative project, which further strengthens the Port of Klaipeda\u2019s leadership in sustainable shipping and opens up new opportunities for the entire Baltic region, brought together the expertise of professionals from the Lithuanian and Estonian shipbuilding sectors. The godmothers of this environmentally friendly vessel were Lithuania\u2019s First Lady Diana Nausediene and Estonia\u2019s First Lady Sirje Karis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/llsa.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618_131140-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1463\" style=\"width:305px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/llsa.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618_131140-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/llsa.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618_131140-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/llsa.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618_131140-1-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/llsa.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618_131140-1-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/llsa.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618_131140-1-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vessel \u201cRasa\u201d is equipped to receive bilge water, sludge, and waste from other ships. The 42-meter-long tanker is equipped with specialized tanks and a modern ballast water treatment system, which allows treated water, along with wastewater, to be transferred to the city\u2019s treatment facilities. The \u201cRasa\u201d will use green hydrogen produced at the Port of Klaipeda, making it not only a symbol of clean shipping but also an important step toward developing Lithuania\u2019s hydrogen economy and a more sustainable future for maritime transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This state-of-the-art vessel cost 12 million euros.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the Lithuanian Shipowners\u2019 Association were invited to the christening ceremony of the \u201cRasa,\u201d a vessel powered by green hydrogen and electricity.
